The History of Blowin' Up

No one really knows exactly where the term "Blowin' Up" originally came from. Rappers have been using the term for years. Some trace the origin back to 1989 when Kool Moe Dee released "I'm Blowin' Up" from the album "Knowledge Is King". Although we feel Kool Moe Dee was way ahead of his time we think he missed the mark with lyrics like, "I'm blowin' up -- Whoever thinks he wants some -- He don't want none -- He's got to be insane -- Or plain dumb". We tend to think that lyric is pretty dumb but I digress...

By the time 1996 rolled around people had become familiar with the term "Blowin' Up" and before long they began to use the term regularly. There was, however, something missing. People wanted to be Blowin' Up but had no way to express the fact that they were indeed Blowin' Up. Then, on a busy street in the middle of New York City one man gave Blowin' Up it's identity. Meet the "Godfather"...

With this pose Blowin' Up as we now know it was born. Today more and more people are learning the ways of Blowin' Up and the phenomenon is spreading worldwide. Whether you are at a Gentleman's Club, a wedding, or sharing a vacation with the family you too can be Blowin' Up.
